Sophany Touch is the Community Based Ecotourism (CBET) Community Development Officer at Wildlife Alliance in Chi Phat, Cambodia, where he is involved in promoting conservation values throughout the CBET process and activities. As a vital part of Wildlife Alliance, his work focuses on environmental conservation and poverty alleviation by empowering and strengthening local communities and engaging them to build their capacity for environmental conservation. As a fellow at Citizens’ Environmental Coalition in Houston, Texas, where he met with organizations involved in ecotourism, forestry, waste management, and green school initiatives, and learned about recycling markets, composting, and improved his leadership and fundraising skills. Following the Community Solutions Program, Touch worked to improve waste management in the Chai Phat community through zero waste and green schools programs, as well as increase community awareness and participation towards waste reduction and a litter-free environment.
