As the Communications Coordinator of ICCA Consortium, Md Kutub Uddin leads the strategic efforts to promote the recognition and support of the territories conserved by indigenous and local communities in countries around the world and helps the consortium's members indigenous nations and local community-led organizations in more than 80 countries to strategically communicate their efforts for social-ecological conservation. While in the U.S., Uddin worked with Georgia Sea Grant and Marine Extension Service, University of Georgia in Skidaway Island, GA and Athens, GA, where he contributed to developing public-service programs and communications that help marginalized communities connect with coastal and marine environments and conservation programs and co-developed a knowledge exchange program between Georgia Sea Grant and local conservation groups in South Asia. Since his return to Bangladesh, Uddin has focused his efforts on conserving biodiversity and ecological functions, nurturing the sustainable livelihoods and well-being of indigenous peoples and local communities, and achieving the full respect of their cultural diversity and individual and collective rights.
