Luckson Kanyaka Mulumbi is the Executive Director of Youth Alliance for Development, a youth-serving and youth-led nongovernmental organization operating in the North western and Copperbelt provinces of Zambia. For eight years, Mulumbi has been working with local communities on empowerment, governance, and human rights. Mulumbi travels around Zambia conducting trainings and holding group discussions on different themes, like entrepreneurship, adolescent and sexual reproductive health, education, environmental awareness, and human rights. As a CSP Fellow, Mulumbi worked with Chicago Votes in Illinois, concentrating on community development approaches and strategies for youth leadership building and youth engagement in the electoral process. This included grassroots organization in communities and university campuses in the city of Chicago. Now returned to Zambia, Mulumbi has established Young Voices-Together for Democracy, a project that aims to build the capacities of youth by delivering information on the electoral processes and civic engagement. Through innovative approaches, Mulumbi is working with young women as a democracy corps in local communities of north western Zambia to implement the project.
