Jagoda Risteska is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of MC-Mobility Challenge, a non-profit organization that focuses on improving access to education, employment, and public institutions for women with disabilities. She is dedicated to social change and empowering people with disabilities, having first-hand experience with a disability as result of Muscular Dystrophy. She also participated in the 4th Women's Institute on Leadership and Disability in Eugene, Oregon in 2008, which inspired her and her colleagues to start their NGO a year later. As a fellow at the U.S. International Council on Disabilities in Washington, DC, Risteska was engaged with the Newsletter for International News and the writing of a Manual for Youth in Development project. She learned about accessibility in transportation systems and Independent Living Centers in Washington, D.C., which helped her to initiate similar projects in Macedonia. Following the Community Solutions Program, Risteska worked to implement a series of personal empowerment workshops for women with disabilities, focusing on goal-setting, self-esteem building, and effective communication.
