Ernlee Barbu

Africa, Liberia, Women and Gender Issues, 2016

As a program manager for Population Services International–Liberia, Ernlee Barbu helps to create and promote healthy communities in Liberia through trainings and communication campaigns focused on behavior change. Ernlee specializes in curriculum development, managing teams, youth development and donor relations. During her fellowship in the United States, Barbu hopes to learn about women and gender issues, specifically women’s health in regards to sexual and reproductive health rights, as well as issues of gender equality among adolescents. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Barbu plans to increase the knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, and prevent gender-based violence and gender inequality among young women both in and out of school in rural communities in Liberia.

In memory of those who worked to make the world a better place and inspired others along the way, Ernlee Barbu (1984–2018).
