Currently updating communities on HIV Prevention research studies mainly focusing on microbicides studies, Chamunorwa Mashoko directs the Harare International Carnival. During his CSP fellowship, Mashoko worked with the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA) in Brooklyn, New York, making research results accessible to the public and training communities on the importance of participating in clinical trials. Having returned to Zimbabwe, Mashoko has used the skills he learned at ACRIA to advocate for increased domestic funding for HIV response in Zimbabwe. Chamunorwa pushes for increased domestic HIV funding in Zimbabwe where 70 percent of HIV funding is from external donors. He also ensures that coalition activities are maintained, identifying and training more advocates.
