Chamanie Nanayakkara is a program officer for the Media Empowerment for a Democratic Sri Lanka (MEND) program.  

In her role, she is responsible for successful implementation of two programs  Support Network for Advocacy Partners (SNAP) and Civic Action through Mobile Phones (CAMP). Under the SNAP Program, IREX offers high-quality technical support and assistance to Sri Lankan media advocacy organizations while CAMP is designed to assist community organizations that serve marginalized populations in learning the skills necessary to promote their mission and advocate for themselves and their communities. Chamanie supports program development efforts, building and designing high quality technical training materials and capacitating the beneficiary organizations to gain development milestones.

Prior to joining IREX, Chamanie worked at Bates Strategic Alliance as a public relations consultant and MasterCard PTE LTD as a marketing coordinator. She served as the national conference coordinator for SAARC Aquatic Biodiversity and Climate Change International Training Workshop and a web journalist attached to Ceylon Today Newspapers PVT LTD. 

Chamanie is fluent in English and Sinhala. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is an alumna of Study in the US Institutes (SUSI) under the journalism and new media category.
