Chaithri Ranatunge is currently attached to The Asia Foundation where she engages with the Government, NGOs, and institutions to improve mental health and psychosocial services. Apart from working at the Foundation, she also volunteers at STAND, an organization which works with grassroots level women’s organizations to facilitate income generation and advocate for active political participation, the elimination of gender-based violence, rights-based development, and good governance. During her CSP fellowship, she worked with the Monsoon United Asian Women’s Program in Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked with female victims of domestic violence, forming support groups and providing direct assistance to victims at shelters. Upon her return to Sri Lanka, Ranatunge conducted a community needs assessment on domestic violence and sexual abuse to inform future programming. STAND was formed shortly after the conclusion of this research to follow through on some of the findings
