Africa, Zambia, Women and Gender Issues, 2018

As the Project Officer of World Vision, Beatrice Sakala is working to reduce sexual and gender-based violence in northern Zambia by supporting health facilities to provide quality comprehensive services to survivors of sexual and gender based violence, providing capacity building to government workers that have been attached to One Stop Centres where survivors are accessing post-GBV services, and supporting strengthening the coordination among service providers. While in the U.S., Sakala worked with Family Justice Centre of County Erie in Buffalo, where she supported the setting up of satellite locations to provide services to immigrants, helped to translate domestic violence brochures and posters from English to Swahili, and organized events. Since her return to Zambia, Sakala has focused her efforts on writing a journal on social cash transfer in Zambia to help influence policy decisions.
