As a lecturer at South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, Saja Aslam Abdul Majeed lectures at the Faculty of Engineering. His professional and aid experience include working in the 2004 post-tsunami disaster management and later in the war and post-war humanitarian projects in the northern and eastern provinces of Sri Lanka. While in the U.S., Abdul Majeed worked with Field Ready in Chicago, where he worked on humanitarian innovation, community-based technology transfer at the community level in a humanitarian crisis situation, local manufacturing and empowerment, and local market and economic development. Since his return to Sri Lanka, Abdul Majeed has co-founded Youth Entrepreneurship Sustainability Hub (YES Hub) Sri Lanka under the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2020 awarded by the U.S. Department of State. This project aims to identify entrepreneurial youth in five provinces of Sri Lanka to build their capacity to enable them to have an effective business start-up to thrive the Sri Lankan economy.
