As the Community Organizer/Social Worker at CIT+E (Community Intervention for Transformation and Empowerment), Andrea Alexander serves the community and works with leaders to identify effective solutions to major issues. She manages the planning and implementation of initiatives that address challenges in the community, collaborating with stakeholders, government, and NGOs. Community initiatives include family intervention and counselling, mentoring youth, education, and leadership development, as well as poverty reduction and social entrepreneurship programmes. While in the U.S., Andrea worked with Community Voices Heard in New York on the Participatory Budgeting process across 8 districts. She supported the outreach efforts of the Council Members’ offices to ensure widespread representation at the Neighborhood Assemblies where she facilitated small group discussions. Following her fellowship, she focused her work on youth projects to develop and implement peace promotion strategies.
