As an ambassador for Chicas Poderosas, Gabriela Brenes has experience in digital journalism, civic engagement and education, especially in providing women with the skills to research and report on issues that serve the public interest. Upon returning to Costa Rica, Gabriela plans to create a storytelling lab that will help young learners leverage innovation and valuable skills to prototype solutions and encourage financial independence in developing economies. Gabriela will be placed in Voice of America in Washington, District of Columbia working with Voice of America’s Latin America Division to write produce, adapt and edit content for the Service’s web and mobile phone-based news and information outlets.
