Fulbright DAST sends expert U.S. K–12 teachers and educators to participating countries to support projects identified by U.S. embassies and Fulbright commissions in schools, teacher training colleges, government ministries, or educational nongovernmental organizations.

Goals

  • Support education initiatives or institutions that can benefit from the expertise of exemplary U.S. teachers.
  • Build U.S. teachers’ knowledge of the host country to enable them to internationalize their U.S. classrooms and schools upon their return.

Project Activities

Two- to six-week professional development experience abroad: Outstanding elementary, middle, and high school teachers and educators from the United States will share their educational expertise by serving in a consulting role at schools, nonprofit organizations, teacher training institutions, and other educational organizations abroad.

Project Timeline

Cycle I

  • Applications due: The application has now closed.
  • Applicants notified: April 2019
  • Program dates: Projects take place from June to September 2019

Cycle II

  • Applications due: May 6, 2019
  • Applicants notified: August 2019
  • Program dates: Projects take place from October 2019 to May 2020
