Patricia works in the energy and environment sector as the Administrative Manager and Co-founder of Mina Verde. For sellers who generate recyclable materials and buyers who transform materials and extend their life cycles, Mina Verde is a web platform providing waste management solutions through surveying, determining the value and use of materials, selcting buyers, tracking the final disposal of materials, and offering support throughout transactions. The company facilitates trustworthy transactions of recyclable materials through closed bidding. Patricia’s short-term goals are to learn more about the international market, potential buyers, and the logistics necessary to sell materials such as plastic, cardboard, rubber, and obsolete inventory, as well as to diversify the company’s portfolio to include consultancy, auditing, and reporting services. Their long-term goal is to contribute to the circular economy as a sustainable enterprise by integrating sustainability, innovation, and ethics into the company’s daily operations. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Patricia’s top business challenge is creating a strategy to support the growth of Mina Verde in the global recycling market amid the lack of awareness, information, and legal framework in the Dominican Republic. During the Fellowship Placement, Patricia hopes to gain knowledge on mitigating environmental risks, American business models and strategies, financing, the human factor, marketing, and social responsibility.
