Meredith Lopez currently serves as the manager for fellowship communications for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.  In this role, she oversees strategic communications for the Fellowship, including managing the Fellowship website, virtual programming, brand management, and cross-team initiatives.

Prior to this role, Meredith served as senior program officer for communications from 2019 to 2020. She also served as corporate relations manager on the Fellowship from 2013 to 2019, overseeing partner relationship management and the Professional Development Experience component. 

Before joining IREX, Meredith was a program officer at the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU).  She managed the organization’s regional programs on Europe, Eurasia, and East Africa with U.S. Ambassadors and other high-level U.S. and foreign government officials, as well as a portfolio of BCIU’s member companies and organizations. She also managed BCIU’s Commercial Diplomacy Training Programs at the U.S. Foreign Service Institute and U.S. Department of Commerce.  Earlier in her career, Meredith worked for the National Association of Counties, Presidential Classroom, and the U.S. Senate.

Meredith holds a master of arts in international affairs, with a focus in international law and organizations, and a bachelor of arts in international affairs and history, both from The George Washington University. As a graduate student, she studied at Maastricht University in Maastricht, Netherlands. She is proficient in French.
