Kayla Caldwell is the subgrants and capacity building officer for the Youth Excel project. In this role, Kayla manages a substantial and diverse global portfolio of subawards for youth-led and youth-serving organizations, with an emphasis on new local partners, and provides capacity building support to enhance grant management.
Prior to joining IREX, Kayla served as a program officer at the Bantwana Initiative of World Education, where she backstopped a range of donor-funded health, education, economic strengthening, and child protection programs for vulnerable children in Zimbabwe and Zambia, and contributed to new business development.
Kayla holds a BA in economics and international relations from the University of Southern California. Through a David L. Boren scholarship, Kayla participated in the African Flagship Languages Initiative and interned at a human rights organization in Senegal. She is proficient in French.
