Katie Kattula is a program officer for the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Program.

In this role, Katie provides vision and leadership for the curriculum and events components of YLAI. She works closely with the U.S. Department of State and strategic partners to deliver a transformative entrepreneurship and leadership development experience for young entrepreneurs from Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

With more than 14 years of educational leadership experience, Katie manages highly effective teams and builds trusting relationships with program partners. She seeks to constantly innovate for events and curriculum, thus allowing fellows to find their growth edge.

Before joining IREX in 2022, Katie was an educator and curriculum designer specializing in creating responsive curriculums for Spanish-speaking populations. In 2016, she was distinguished as a Fulbright-Hays Scholar to Peru where she conducted research and designed a STEM curriculum highlighting indigenous Peruvians as engineering exemplars. Additionally, in 2009, Katie was chosen to represent the Associated Colleagues of the Midwest as a visiting English instructor at the University of Costa Rica. 

Katie holds a masters in education from Hamline University, and a bachelor of arts in education and Spanish from St. Olaf College.
