Hamza Salem is a senior advisor for the Office of the President.

As the senior advisor, Hamza supports the executive team by optimizing the use of data and evidence to increase mission impact, aid decision-making, facilitate organizational management, and strengthen internal communication. He works closely with the President and CEO, the Vice President of Global Operations and Management, and other key stakeholders across IREX, on special projects and initiatives that involve strategic and organizational priorities, including those laid out in the IREX 2025 strategy.

Prior to rejoining IREX, Hamza was the Managing Director of Collective Impact, a leading nonprofit organization that leverages influential social networks to fundraise, raise awareness, and recruit supporters for progressive campaigns and organizations. In this role, Hamza used data-driven decision-making to define and implement a new organizational strategy, expand fundraising initiatives, and develop strategic partnerships with leading organizations across the US. Under his leadership, the Collective Impact team successfully managed campaigns that reached millions of Americans through scalable, impactful, and cost-effective interventions.

Most recently, Hamza scaled Collective Impact’s consulting offering by developing proprietary media management technology for public messaging and social media amplification. Notably, national campaign committees, federal candidates, and state parties adopted his web application. During the most recent election cycle, he also developed a relational organizing tool that uses proven behavioral insights with leading researchers from UCLA, Stanford, and Northwestern.

Previously, Hamza worked in the Office of the President at IREX, where he supported long-term organizational projects, including the IREX 2025 strategic planning process. In addition, he established a business development platform for refugee and community-led initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa, based in Amman, Jordan; at Brooklyn Community Services he contributed to strategic planning, organizational learning, and fundraising strategy development; and managed organization-wide operational systems and supported program development in East Africa and Asia at Evidence Action.

Hamza holds a Master’s in Social Data Science from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor's in Political Science and Computer Programming from New York University. He is fluent in Arabic and English.
