Essence Lee is a program associate on the Community Solutions Program. In this role, Essence contributes to many aspects of the program including participant support, event planning, partner relations and communications.
Prior to joining IREX, Essence supported the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning at American University. There she planned and implemented numerous professional development workshops and managed the Center’s communications efforts. Before this, Essence worked as an English teacher at a secondary school in Suphan Buri, Thailand. She also previously served as an AmeriCorps member in Detroit, working with the nonprofit organization Boys Hope Girls Hope where she focused on providing educational and holistic support for low-income and first-generation youth.
Essence holds a master of arts in intercultural and international communication from American University and a bachelor of arts in journalism and mass communication from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University
