Asheley Ashittey is a program coordinator for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. In this role she provides administrative and logistical support to the Reciprocal Exchanges component of the team.

Asheley holds a Bachelor of Arts in African and African American Studies and minor in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis and has studied abroad in Senegal and Ghana. Prior to joining IREX, Asheley completed her Fulbright in Lesotho, conducting independent research on Gender and Collective Identity among street vendors in urban Maseru. Asheley has picked up a bit of Sesotho, Ga, and Wolof from her time studying and researching abroad.

Asheley is also an AmeriCorps alum and completed their national service within the non-profit education sector.
