Cameron Mirza
Cameron serves as the executive project director for IREX's ASAS program, a U.S. Government-funded early grade education initiative in Jordan. He leads national education systems reform, teacher workforce development, and university transformation efforts, with a particular focus on AI readiness in education and policy development across the MENA region.
Since 2020, Cameron has led two major education programs in Jordan with budgets exceeding $70 million. These programs have trained more than 20,000 educators, introduced and executed five new national education policies, led Jordan's first national AI diagnostic for education, and overseen significant measurable improvement in early grade literacy and numeracy outcomes. He works closely with the Ministry of Education, teachers, parents, universities, and national stakeholders to improve learning outcomes through collaborative problem solving and using new technologies to reduce learning inequalities and improve access to high-quality education.
Cameron brings more than twenty years of experience in international education systems reform, including leadership of high-profile programs in the UK and advisory work with governments across the Gulf and North Africa, including Bahrain, the UAE, and Egypt. He previously served as head of strategy for the Ministry of Higher Education in Bahrain, and later as head of transformation at the University of Bahrain, where he led institutional change efforts at the national and university level. For several years Cameron advised the higher education sector in Egypt which resulted in significant improvements in global reputation for Egyptian universities.
Cameron is a published author and a regular contributor and speaker on education and AI and serves as a board member of the Global Impact Initiative (Gii). He holds an MSc from SOAS University of London, a certificate in digital transformation from Cambridge University, and a postgraduate certificate in business analytics from Imperial College London.
