As the war in Ukraine continues, independent media in Ukraine are fighting a battle on multiple fronts. With advertising markets shattered and subscription models out of reach, many regional outlets are on the brink of collapse. Meanwhile, Russia continues its attacks and floods the information space with propaganda and manipulative information.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, independent journalists persist—risking their safety to deliver truth, hold power to account, and give voice to those affected by war. Their work is not just important—it is essential.

But they cannot do it alone.

Now is the time to stand with them.

For over 30 years, IREX has worked in Ukraine, driving change and supporting local partners to meet their most pressing needs. Through the Ukraine Media Emergency Fund, IREX will work with Ukrainian journalists and media outlets to secure critical necessities, enabling them to continue sharing vital information with Ukrainian citizens.

The Ukraine Media Emergency Fund is designed to provide immediate and essential assistance to the media. This fund will prioritize supporting young Ukrainian journalists and youth-operated media outlets serving various communities across Ukraine.
