The Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) Master’s & Internship Program (MIP) is a competitive professional and academic exchange program that provides emerging Albanian leaders with the opportunity to pursue graduate-level studies and gain practical professional experience in the United States. Through a combination of academic learning, leadership development, and hands-on internships, the program equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to contribute to Albania’s economic and social development.

As part of the program, fellows complete a six-month professional internship with a U.S. host organization, where they apply their academic knowledge in a real-world work environment, strengthen their professional competencies, and gain exposure to U.S. workplace culture and best practices. Throughout the experience, fellows receive support from AADF and IREX and are encouraged to build lasting professional connections, develop leadership skills, and prepare for impactful careers upon their return to Albania.

• Designed for Albanian Leaders: The program supports talented Albanian students and young professionals as they develop skills and expertise in their fields. Since its inception in 2016, over 85 young Albanian professionals have completed the MIP Program. 
• Six-Month U.S. Internship: Fellows complete a six-month internship with a U.S. host organization to gain practical experience and exposure to American workplace culture.
• Cross-Cultural Exchange: Participants build professional networks, learn from diverse perspectives, and strengthen their intercultural communication skills.
• J-1 Exchange Visitor Program: Fellows participate in the internship under the J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa Program, which promotes educational and cultural exchange.
