West Bank 21st Century Youth Competencies Assessment

IREX's Partnerships with Youth (PWY) project conducted a comprehensive baseline assessment of young people in the West Bank. The assessment enables the project to compare the competencies of youth from varied demographics (e.g., to compare females between the ages of 14 and 19 who live in refugee camps in Hebron against the mean of youth in the West Bank.)

The assessment, which was led by youth enumerators, establishes a link between employment and youth engagement in their communities. It identifies several activities that predict the likelihood of a young person gaining employment. Assessment data will inform PWY and our partners in effective project implementation, and support USAID and other Palestinian youth development stakeholders to identify the areas of greatest need and most effective programming targets.
