Overview

The Fulbright Teacher Exchanges are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX. The programs are governed by policies established by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Short-Term Program for U.S. Teachers sends expert U.S. K–12 teachers and educators to participating countries to support projects identified by U.S. embassies and Fulbright commissions in schools, teacher training colleges, government ministries, or educational nongovernmental organizations.

The Fulbright DAST Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX.

Goals

  • Support education initiatives or institutions that can benefit from the expertise of exemplary U.S. teachers.
  • Build U.S. teachers’ knowledge of the host country to enable them to internationalize their U.S. classrooms and schools upon their return.

Project Activities

Two- to six-week professional development experience abroad: Outstanding elementary, middle, and high school teachers and educators from the United States will share their educational expertise by serving in a consulting role at schools, nonprofit organizations, teacher training institutions, and other educational organizations abroad.

Project Timeline

The 2021–2022 Fulbright DAST Program will run projects March–December 2022.
