Steven Funk is a senior program officer and the Leadership in Business track lead for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.

In this role, he provides leadership for programmatic and curricular planning, budgetary and subaward oversight, and participant emergency management for Leadership in Business Institutes on the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.

Before joining IREX, Steve was a senior program officer for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award where he worked closely with stakeholders in secondary and higher education to implement the program nationally. Steve has previously worked at NYU in the Office of Global Services as part of the inbound international student team in addition to his leadership role as president of the NYC Chapter of Amigos de las Americas where he implemented cultural exchange programming in Latin America. Earlier in his career, Steve was a high school teacher in New Jersey, where he focused on photography and woodworking.

Steve holds a BS in technology education from Millersville University, in addition to an MA in international education from New York University.
