Sana Mahmood is a Program Officer in the Education Practice and supports the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program, Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program for Pakistan, and the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP).
Prior to joining IREX, she supported democratic development programs in Jordan, Lebanon, and the West Bank at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI). Her previous experience includes working with AMIDEAST on a USAID-funded initiative aimed at institutional capacity building and education reform in the Palestinian school system, and supporting policy research at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Sana earned a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and a bachelor’s in Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies from Emory University. She speaks Urdu and has a working knowledge of Arabic.
