Raquel is a program coordinator for the Information and Media Practice where she works on the Securing Access to Free Expression (SAFE) Initiative, Learn to Discern-Education (Ukraine), and the Learn to Discern – Serbia program.
On the SAFE team, Raquel is a focal point for program activities in the Middle East and North Africa region as well as curriculum work. Raquel also supports IREX’s Learn to Discern global media and information literacy initiatives, from the adaptation into Ukraine’s secondary school and higher education system, to the new regional context of Serbia, and a pilot in the United States.
In previous roles at IREX, Raquel worked on the Ukraine and Georgia Media Partnership Programs (UMPP and GMPP) and the Internet Freedom Festival project.
Before joining IREX, Raquel served as a Fulbright professor in Morocco, teaching freshman and sophomore classes in the English department at a public university. She speaks Spanish, French, and Arabic and has studied and lived abroad in Morocco, Argentina, and France.
Raquel holds a bachelor of arts in linguistics from Georgetown University.
