Onyinyechi Ekeanyanwu is a program associate for alumni engagement for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. In this role, Onyi will support efforts to create strategic professional development opportunities available to the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Network.

Prior to joining IREX, Onyi worked as a government contractor for the Small Business Administration (SBA) during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide loans to small businesses across the United States. Onyi has a passion for community engagement through health and education. In college, Onyi guided students on a community engagement trip to Guatemala. She has also worked as a Program Coordinator at Social Action and Integrative Learning (SAIL), where she facilitated multiple social events. She was awarded a Community Engagement Award in 2019.

Onyi holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs with a double minor in public health and leadership. She has a deep interest in global health and diplomacy. She will be graduating in Spring 2022 with a master’s degree in health administration and policy from George Mason University.
