Mariya Chetyrkina is the Project Director for Teacher Training Programs at IREX, where she oversees day-to-day management, leads a team of staff, provides financial oversight, and provides technical guidance to program and product design.
Ms. Chetyrkina is a senior management professional with nearly 20 years of progressive experience leading complex domestic and international projects and operations in the education, nonprofit, and corporate spheres. Ms. Chetyrkina is skilled at employing, monitoring, evaluation and learning practices to maximize program impact. She expertly facilitates innovation and collaboration among program beneficiaries from 64 countries and the United States, US Department of State, partner universities, and host schools. She brings over 15 years of experience designing and leading training and learning workshops for diverse audiences across the globe, from youth to career professionals. Ms. Chetyrkina has extensive professional experience in finance, compliance, and operations, with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and demonstrated ability to ensure compliance to USG regulations.
Prior to joining IREX, Ms. Chetyrkina served as Finance, Compliance and Operations Manager for International Programs at NARUC. Prior to that, she served as Program Manager for the National Security Language Initiative for Youth Program, funded by the US Department of State, at American Councils for International Education. In this capacity, Ms. Chetyrkina designed and developed high-impact, short- and long-term language programs in Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Korean, and Persian for American high school students overseas. Prior to her work with American Councils, Ms. Chetyrkina served as Assistant Director for the Office of Enrollment Management at Case Western Reserve University. She also served as Head of Administration for Eurasia Practice Group for Chadbourne & Parke LLP in the Russian Federation.
Ms. Chetyrkina began her career at IREX, which includes eight years as Senior Program Manager for Education Programs both at IREX’s office in Washington, DC and in Eurasia. Ms. Chetyrkina received her BA from Wittenberg University and is bilingual in English and Russian.
