Mariya Chetyrkina is the Project Director for Teacher Training Programs at IREX. Mariya has over 15 years of progressive leadership experience managing complex domestic and international projects and operations in the education, nonprofit (USG-funded), and corporate spheres. She brings over a decade of experience designing and leading training and learning workshops for diverse audiences across the globe, from youth to career professionals.
Prior to joining IREX, Mariya served as Finance, Compliance and Operations Manager for International Programs at NARUC. Prior to that, Mariya served as Program Manager for the National Security Language Initiative for Youth Program, a program of the US Department of State and implemented by American Councils for International Education. In this capacity, Mariya designed and developed high-impact, short- and long-term language programs in Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Korean, and Persian for American high school students overseas. Prior to her work with American Councils, Mariya served as Assistant Director for the Office of Enrollment Management at Case Western Reserve University. Prior to that, she served as Head of Administration for Eurasia Practice Group for Chadbourne & Parke LLP in the Russian Federation.
Mariya started her professional career at IREX, where she spent eight years as Senior Program Manager for Education Programs. She received her BA from Wittenberg University and is bilingual in English and Russian.
