Manisha Aryal is a senior technical advisor at IREX. She is responsible for strategy, partnership, design, and development for media and information programs globally.
She specializes in developing innovative initiatives in countries undergoing complex political transitions and/or emerging from protracted conflict. Her core expertise lies in designing projects that strengthen freedom of expression, develop capacity of journalists and the media, improve performance of broadcast and digital outlets, and expand citizens' access to and engagement with information.
Manisha has worn multiple hats over the course of her 25-year career in journalism and independent media strengthening. She has been a print reporter, produced radio programs, anchored current affairs shows on television, and served as a stringer for international media outlets. She has trained journalists and producers, and developed curricula and run training-of-trainers for digital security and mobile safety for journalists. Manisha has started journalism training diploma programs at universities, set up newsrooms at broadcast outlets, and established and managed a successful broadcast production house.
Before joining IREX, Manisha worked on a range of media programs funded by the DRL, USAID, OTI, OFDA, DFID, FCO, EU Commission, and the UNESCO. Manisha has an MA in journalism from University of California, Berkeley.
