Carolina Buitrago is the program coordinator for the Harnessing Emerging Political Leaders for an Accountable Guatemala project. She also provides support to the Data Zetu program in Tanzania.
Prior to joining IREX, Carolina worked at a national non-profit in Texas focusing on Latino and immigrant asset building and leadership programs. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cape Verde and Colombia teaching English and working on youth initiatives. She also worked as a monitoring and evaluation technical assistant for a food security project in Guatemala.
Carolina holds an MA in international development and social change from Clark University and a BA in Anthropology from the University of South Florida. As part of her graduate degree, she spent a summer conducting research on an HIV/AIDS prevention initiative among vulnerable populations in rural areas in India. She speaks Spanish, English and Cape Verdean Creole.
