In order to understand 2 changing social and cultural dynamics, scholars need to incorporate the contributions, perspectives, and social interaction of the elderly. Policy formation requires knowledge about the elderly and their place in the family and community as well as problems and challenges related to the elderly in order to address social needs and family issues.
