Administrators Take First Step in Internet Advocacy for their Schools. This August, directors of GCE schools gathered at the three-day Sustainability and Advocacy Workshop (SAW) in Issyk Kul. During the workshop, directors discussed the role of ICT in their schools, developed their own practical understanding of how to leverage these new technologies, and created action plans for how to advocate for their continued use after the GCE program.

TAG Alumni Train Political Party Representatives in Kyrgyzstan. Five Tech Age Girls were recently invited by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to train political party representatives to use Skype and video editing software as new communication tools.

Future Young Reporters Converge at Citizen Journalism Cybercamp. In July, 60 GCE students participated in the virtual Citizen Journalism Cybercamp (CJC), during which they studied citizen journalism, blogging, and digital storytelling, and how to use these tools to better serve their communities.

American Exchange Alumni Inspire Students in Osh. In September, 70 students in Osh attended an information session at a local secondary school, where alumni from Global Undergraduate Exchange (UGRAD) and Tech Age Girls (TAG) programs gave inspiring presentations on their experiences as participants.

Hundreds of High School Students Become Ambassadors Online. This fall, more than 150 students in high schools across the United States have begun connecting with students in Kyrgyzstan, via Global Connections and Exchange’s innovative online projects.

Teacher Delivers Winning Modern Lesson Plan, Inspires Peers. Aizat Omurbaeva, winner of the second round of the Modern Lesson Plan Contest, presented her lesson to students and fellow faculty at Satylganov School in Karakol this month.

Bazar Korgon School Computer Lab Opens Its Doors, Widens Student Horizons. This month, Bokonbaev School in Bazar Korgon opened a brand new computer lab, a first in the school’s 85-year history.
