Working out realistic strategy of internationalization supported by proper managerial structure and policies is one of the most important problems faced by Zaporizhzhya National University in the field of international relations. Due to a closed, isolated character of the Soviet educational system, the majority of provincial HEIs of the former USSR never actually experienced any independent international activity and therefore has no idea of managing the process of internationalization in both the academic and research spheres. The goal of this case study is to elaborate an appropriate strategy for the management of internationalization in ZNU based on the practical and successful experience of a U.S. HEI, which closely resembles our university in profile.
