Natalia Anoshkina’s interests are in the areas of international relations, quality assurance, and strategic planning. She aims to study how international program offices are managed at US universities from strategic planning and financial management to the development of academic exchange programs. Upon return to her home university, she plans to establish an alumni association, a Center for Credential Evaluation, and to further internationalize her institution.

Case Study: Faculty Development, Research Management
Victor Gergel is interested in the areas of faculty development, research management, and corporate relations. He aims to study how US universities develop their strategic plans and roles the faculties play in its development. He also plans to investigate the link between business and academia that result in joint projects of science, applied research, and technology. Upon return to his home university, he plans to prepare recommendations for the development of UNN’s strategic plan and expand cooperation with industry and business.

Case Study: Faculty Development, Human Resource Management
Elvira Kaminskaya will focus on the areas of faculty development and human resource management. During her US fellowship, she will investigate issues of performance management and training and development. Her specific aims are to study e-learning management, appraisal strategies, and methods to measure both individual and team performance. Upon return to her home university, she hopes to create guidelines for the development of an online faculty resource center and to develop an effective performance management system for the Bilingual Education Department that is closely linked to organizational goals within the university’s overall strategic plan.

Case Study: Alumni Relations, Fundraising and Development
Ekaterina Karpova is interested in the areas of alumni relations, corporate relations, and fundraising and development. She plans to study the basics of university fundraising, how to prepare solicitation packages, database management, how to research prospective donors, and how to best coordinate with alumni associations both domestically and abroad. Upon return to her home university, she plans to establish a development office.

Case Study: Faculty Development
Natalia Nevezhkina will investigate the area of faculty development. During her US fellowship, she plans to investigate the American approach towards excellence in teaching and learning, identify similarities and differences between the American and Russian styles of teaching and learning, identify common American and Russian values in the field of faculty development, and to conduct a survey investigating the stereotypes of US faculty development programs. Upon return to her home university, she plans to establish a teaching center where trainings in faculty development will be held.

Mikhail Pevzner aims to study international relations and strategic planning. He will observe the mechanisms US universities utilize to analyze its strengths and weaknesses to then develop their vision, mission statements, and strategic plan. Pevzner plans to investigate how higher education is internationalized in the United States. Upon return to his home university, he plans to develop a strategic plan, strengthen the university’s strategic partnership with the community, and cooperate with enterprises and regional institutions.

Case Study: Campus Life and Student Services
Anna Plekhanova is interested in the area of campus life and student services. She plans to study the structure of the student services administration office, the programs and services that monitor the quality of the campus environment, and the office’s interaction with academic structures. Upon return to her home university, Plekhanova and her colleagues will incorporate the US experience to improve on the quality of their university’s existing student services and eventually reorganize its structure with new, enhanced programs and methods to monitor effectiveness.

Zoya Proshina aims to study the areas of research management, integration of teaching and research, and corporate relations. She plans to investigate how universities build relationships and work together with the business community. She will also study how universities track their alumni and maintain relations. Upon return to her home university, she will further develop its cooperation with the business community, enhance graduates’ employment opportunities, and attract investment opportunities.

Rimma Shamsutdinova’s interests are in the areas of university financing and budget management, and fundraising and development. During her US fellowship, she plans to study budget management systems and how strategic planning and budgeting are linked. Upon return to her home university, she aims to establish a department of financial operations within the institute to conduct trainings on business planning, budgeting, and financial operations. Shamsutdinova hopes the US fellowship experience will assist the institute in creating an effective administrative structure and to generate revenue for continued sustainability.

Andrey Tolstikov intends to observe research management at a US university during his program. He plans to investigate how university grant divisions function to identify and pursue new funding opportunities, assist faculty and staff with developing proposals to external sponsors, monitor legislative initiatives, maintain a grant monitoring system, and coordinate resources throughout the university in support of sponsored programs. Upon return to his home university, he plans to establish a grants division and conduct various seminars on grant management to his colleagues and university administration.

During his US fellowship he aims to study summer and study abroad programs as forms of curricular and extracurricular activities. He plans to investigate what attracts students to these programs, how US universities develop summer and study abroad programs and select partners, and what makes these programs successful and self-sustaining.
