Case Study: Faculty Development in American Universities
Guo Feng is interested in the area of faculty development. During his US fellowship, he aims to investigate different practices applied in US universities and introduce his experiences upon return to the NAEA in China. Under direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, NAEA provides various trainings for higher education leaders and senior university administrators nationwide. As China faces new challenges to train more educational leaders, Feng aims to renew faculty’s knowledge of the theories and methods of faculty development. He intends to introduce the US experience to his college to strengthen and improve its management, service ability, and quality through effective faculty development.

Case Study: Quality Assurance of Higher Education in US
Wang Jiayi will investigate the area of quality assurance. During his US fellowship, he aims to study the systemic approaches and instruments utilized by US universities to measure academic programs and teaching and learning quality. He will study how the quality assurance office operates and its relationship to professors and academic staff. Upon return to his home university, he plans to introduce his knowledge gained to improve work of evaluating and monitoring the quality of academic programs and teaching and learning. Wang hopes to integrate new quality assurance methods into the university’s new plan for reforms to curriculum and teaching management.

Case Study: Administration in Research Institutions
Wang Zhiping’s interests are in the areas of research management and strategic planning. During his US fellowship, he plans to investigate how subjects and human resources are integrated for effective administration, how public resources as databases, literature, and equipment are shared, and how to set up new administrative patterns in response to the existing conditions in China’s underdeveloped areas. Upon return to his home university, Wang will hold academic lectures to disseminate his experiences and create a report on the administration and construction of key laboratories in Chinese universities.
