New RLIC Center in Ismayilli Opens Doors for Local Residents

Farah Maharramova, a local high school student, was one of the first residents to explore the new RLIC center in Ismayilli that opened in March. Maharramova participated in RLIC trainings and events to increase her educational opportunities. With the help of RLIC staff, Maharramova began searching the Internet for scholarships and academic summer camps. She applied for the "Global Scholar 2006" program which she learned about through the project “Challenge 20/20.” In May, Maharramova let the RLIC staff know that she had been accepted to the program and even won a full scholarship. She will travel to Washington and Lee University in Virginia for the program from July 2-July 15, 2006. The Global Scholar Program teaches young leaders to explore international issues and gives them a chance to visit leading global institutions in Washington D.C. Farah Maharramova said that she would not have been able to do find this opportunity by herself and thanked RLIC for giving her the skills to find this life-changing scholarship.
