Pre-service Students Introduced to Interactive Teaching Methods
Azerbaijan is undergoing educational reform to bring modern, interactive methodologies and curriculum to its institutions. Reforming how students are taught begins by restructuring the curriculum and teaching methods in pedagogical institutions that prepare future teachers.
Baku State University faculty member Rovshan Abbasov attended PST trainings and put new teaching methodologies into practice with his pre-service students. To demonstrate the power of interactive teaching methods, he conducted lessons for the pre-service teachers using problem-solving activities that promote critical thinking. Rovshan relayed to his students how they can use similar problemsolving activities when they teach, encouraging the students to create middle school social studies lesson plans that use debate and interactive lesson plans to provoke students’ critical thinking skills.
