Muskie 2006 Recruitment Season Begins
A new recruitment season for the 2006 Muskie Fellowship Program has begun. Nearly 150 fellows will be selected for one-year non-degree, one-year degree, and two-year degree graduate-level programs. Applications for Muskie fellows are due on October 31, 2005. Host University Applications will be available in November and will be due on January 31, 2006.
The Muskie Fellowship Program provides opportunities for Master’s level study in the United States to graduate students and professionals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan in the following eleven eleven academic fields.

Funded by the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the Muskie Fellowship Program has provided academic and professional development opportunities to over 3,000 Eurasian citizens since its inception in 1992.
The IREX launch of the 2005 Muskie Fellowship Program welcomed 162 graduate students and professionals from across Eurasia for graduate-level study in the United States. Over 100 American universities are hosting Muskie fellows in 11 academic fields including business administration, law, and public policy. Fellows also participate in internships and volunteer work as part of their academic studies.
Patrick Butler, IREX Board Member and Senior Vice President of the Washington Post Company, congratulated the new Muskie fellows during a reception at the Stephen Decatur House in Washington, DC, and encouraged them to make the most of their prestigious fellowships. State Department officials, foreign embassy representatives, and IREX staff were also present.
