Aaloul, Hend (West Bank, Palestine)
Hend Aaloul worked as a senior financial analyst for the Palestine Development & Investment Co. where she was responsible for assessing the financial needs of her company and its subsidiaries. She is a CPA, certified by the Delaware Board of Accountancy, and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Birzeit University. She has also participated in fundraising, negotiation, and financial analysis training seminars in Egypt and Ramallah. Hend would like to improve her expertise in evaluating the needs of companies and improving their financial planning techniques so that she could participate in building a new, healthy Palestinian economy.

Abboud, Angelique (Haifa, Israel)
Angelique Abboud is a senior programmer and team leader at Amdocs, Ltd., an international customer management firm, where she is responsible for supervising a team of programmers and providing on-site support to customers in both Israel and abroad. She holds an MBA from Haifa University and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Technological Institute of Israel (Technion). Angelique volunteers as a fundraiser for the Jewish Arab Feminist Theatre in Haifa, and the International Women in Black conference. She is also a member of the Center for Jewish Arab Economic Development where she participated in a program aimed at building business bridges between Arab and Jewish entrepreneurs. Through the MEPI Business Internship Program, Angelique hopes to enhance her business and managerial skills so that she may one day start a business of her own.

Shaymaa Abd El Samie is sales and marketing engineer for a contracting company in Qatar. Her responsibilities include calculating and designing air conditioning and ventilation systems, presenting proposals to clients, and achieving monthly sales targets. Shaymaa holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Zagazig University in Cairo, Egypt. She hopes to become a division or general manager for a private sector establishment or a governmental organization.

Abdel-Majid, Ruba (Dubai, United Arab Emirates)
Ruba Abdel-Majid is a finance executive for British American Tobacco in Dubai. She is responsible for managing accounts payable for the Middle East North Africa region as well as liaising with the procurement manager and assisting in marketing finance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Birzeit University. Ruba would like to become a senior manager in a multi-national company and plans to share her MEPI Business Internship Program experience back home in order to contribute to the development of the Middle East.

Carole Abi Saad is the co-founder and managing director of a multimedia and design studio where she is responsible for overall administration and account management. She holds a master’s degree in the protection of trademarks and a bachelor’s degree in law from La Sagesse University and is working on completing a PhD in the protection of trademark on the internet from the University of Nancy II. Carole is also a member of the Association of Lebanese Software Industrials. She hopes the MEPI Business Internship Program will expose her to new ideas on how to grow her business which she hopes to turn into an international company.

Reem Alhajeri is a senior investment analyst for KIPCO Asset Management Co. where she is responsible for analyzing local and GCC market investments. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kuwait University. Reem was one of only four female participants in the Kuwait Investment Authority Development Program, a training program with Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London. She hopes that the MEPI Business Internship Program will help her develop the skills she needs to fulfill her dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

Sarah has also assisted in developing and participated in a workshop on women in law. She hopes that her internship experience will expose her to new aspects of business law so that she is better equipped to work with her law firm’s national and international business clients.

Nada Al Kindy is a reservoir engineer for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) where her responsibilities include providing forecasts, economic evaluation, and business planning. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. Nada is also a member of Toastmasters International through which she has received a best speaker award. She hopes that this US experience will help to enhance her technical, leadership, and management skills and allow her to offer her company insight into a different operating system and work environment. Her goal is to become a senior manager in her company’s corporate planning and economics unit.

Johara Al-Suwaidi worked as a client director and interior designer for Fitch, Inc., an international design firm where she was responsible for researching and recruiting new clients and managing client relations. She was also involved in a prestigious government project for the design of a minister’s conference room. Johara has a BFA in interior design from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCU-Q). She is also a member of the VCU-Q alumni association. Johara hopes that the MEPI Business Internship Program will provide her with the solid foundation needed for a businesswoman aspiring to own and manage a successful design firm in Qatar.

She is also a member of the Beirut Bar Association. Joelle’s goal is to become a partner in a prominent law firm or hold a senior position in the legal department of a multinational company.

Naseif, Alaa (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)
Alaa Naseif is the president and founder of the female youth club, Midad, in Saudi Arabia where she plans and implements programs for young women. Prior to this, she was an assistant professor of early childhood education at Effat College in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She a holds a PhD in curriculum studies from the University of Newcastle in the UK, and a BA in Islamic studies from King Abdul Aziz University in Saudi Arabia. As a woman entering the Saudi business environment, Alaa seeks to gain management and business skills that she can use to initiate projects within her own organization.

Neveen Nassif is a senior datacenter specialist for a USAID-funded project designed to improve the competitiveness of Egypt’s workforce. Her responsibilities include maintaining and supporting datacenter activities, researching and testing new technology, and overseeing technical support personnel. Neveen has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and information systems from the Sadat Academy for Management Sciences. She is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Neveen is interested in learning about the connection between business and information technology, specifically, how changes in information technology affect an organization’s structure, long-term business strategy and development.

Noori, Nadea (Baghdad, Iraq)
Nadia Noori is the director of administration and finance at ISI Group Iraq, a leading security, logistics and communications consulting firm. She oversees a team of over 150 staff and manages accounting, payroll, procurement, hiring, logistics, communications and report writing procedures for program budgets totaling $10 million USD. Her previous experience ranges from human resource management to computer programming and network administration. As the national human resource manager at Business Systems House LLC she managed a staff of 400 employees. At General System Company she designed and developed computer applications and image processing software packages. Ms. Noori received her Masters and Bachelors degrees in Computer Engineering from Baghdad University and was a lecturer in the Information Engineering Department at Baghdad University and is a member of the Iraqi Engineers Union.

Dara Abdelhadi is an account executive at one of the leading advertising agencies in Egypt, where she is responsible for handling day-to-day tasks as well as creatively implementing advertising campaigns. Mayan Al-Asfoor is in charge of the anti-money laundering function in the National Bank of Oman. She also serves as assistant to the compliance officer, as officer in charge of operational risk reporting, and as an analyst for the bank, where she has been working since December 2001. Mayan also studied for three years in Leicester University, UK. During her internship, Bassma hopes to strengthen her managerial skills and to be exposed to different methods of management.

Qassis, Hania (Ramallah, Palestine)

Hania Qassis’s responsibilities at the Palestinian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (PMHC) are to follow up on and monitor—together with other participating banks—the status of their outstanding mortgage loans, issuing the necessary contracts for refinancing the loans and evaluating with lawyers the legal aspects of the contracts for projects. Her bachelor’s degree is in finance from Birziet University, and she is currently in the process of passing the first part of the certified financial management (CFM) exam. Hania also had the opportunity to work as a marketing associate in an information technology company. She is hoping that the MEPI Business Internship Program will help her to take more confident steps in her career with the aim of one day opening her own investment company.

Sahri, Houda (Algiers, Algeria)

Houda Sahri is a lawyer in Samir Hamouda’s Lawyers Firm. She is in charge of the foreign companies that are established in Algeria and deals with issues concerning company set-up and advises the new companies in the issues of business, trade, employment, and financing. Houda holds a license in law from Algiers University and has a lawyer’s certificate. During her internship Houda hopes to strengthen her skills in business and management and to learn how to combine finance, management, and marketing in order to set up her own legal firm and to better advise her customers.

Sheety, Ebtihal (Shfar’am, Israel)

Ebtihal Sheety is a team leader in Partner Communications, a large telecommunication company in Israel. She manages about 20 representatives in a multilanguage call center. Ebtihal holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the Technion Institute. During her internship, Ebtihal hopes to learn new business and management strategies and to strength her management and leadership skills.

Tarik, Dalia (Baghdad, Iraq)

Dalia Tarik is a graduate of Baghdad University-College of Administration & Economics, where she received her bachelor’s degree in the science of statistics. Dalia later attained a high diploma in data security from the Institute for Post Graduate Studies in Informatics. Her professional work has been a mixture of academic and nonacademic positions. Currently, Dalia is responsible for report writing, grant tracking, conducting site assessments, and supervising all activities related to NGO work. Moreover, she has participated in and provided support for strategic planning meetings for various program sectors. After completion of MEPI Business Internship Program, Dalia wishes to actively contribute to the reconstruction and development process in her country by introducing up-to-date and comprehensive managerial skills with the integration of technology. She would also like to be able to stress the importance of privatization to various companies.
