Youth Discusses Socio-Economic Problems Encountering the New Generation Online

Abdusamad Sultonov, a director of public institute
“Youth and Civilization”, delivers a presentation in
an online discussion.
More than 30 young people were encouraged to combat the problems facing Tajik youth and their families during a Valentine’s Day forum. The forum was moderated by Abdusamad Sultonov, director of the public local institute “Youth and Civilization”.
To begin the online discussion, Sultonov commented on the state of Tajik families at the time of the holiday. “According to statistical data Tajik families for the present are in deep moral-psychological degradation.” He continued to lay out the bleak picture in society, “when 70% of population are below the poverty line and more than half and million are in search of jobs in Russia, when the family as a bulwark of socio-economic reforms goes unrecognized by the state, when a group of the population lives off the euphoria of foreign TV serials, there ca not be a discourse about celebrations.” Manucher, a student from Tajik State National University asked, “What is the main problem of new generation according to you?” Sultonov answered, “The most important problem of today’s young people can be considered their illiteracy, even the simple specialists do not answer to contemporary requirements”.
Further participants went through political debate and shared their views with each other. Salim, a student from Kurgan-Tube State University asked, “How can we solve the basic problems of our society?” Sultonov replied, “As long as the president thinks that by fraudulent elections he/she will be in power forever, and as long as mayors of cities do not fear the people, the situation will remain unchanged”.
Rasa, a participant from Dushanbe shared her opinion and asserted, “Maybe we should solve our problems through laws and legislative proceedings”. Sultonov mentioned that, “It is not a matter of laws. If laws are not fair but governors are right the society can survive, but if the laws are humane but bureaucracy is not, then the society can not endure”. The online discussion enabled participants to learn more about contemporary challenges that encounter Tajik society in general and new generation in particular and provided them to unite and share knowledge.
