The European Humanities University, a Belarusian university-in-exile located in Vilnius, Lithuania, has the goals of developing as a liberal arts institution and internationalizing the university. Based on observations and research at the College of William and Mary in the U.S., the author of this case study aims to understand the concept of the liberal arts and to compare different styles of implementation of this idea in U.S. and Europe; explore W&M’s internationalization experience; to look at EHU from an outside perspective; and to find possible routes of cooperation between EHU U.S. liberal arts universities.
