This study is an attempt to examine the complex issue of Research Management using The College of William & Mary (W&M) as a main research case. The Armenian Ministry of Education and Science is going to implement a new status of a Research University based on the example of classic American universities engaged in extensive research activities. My home university - Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute (GSPI) has identified the need to strengthen research capacity as critical to its institutional mission and is craving to gain this status by modifying its administrative and managerial structure. From a practical point of view, the current study is aimed to implement the new advanced American know-how in our local university to gain a result with distinct American added value and, just as important, to avoid possible mistakes in the course of administrative reforms.
