The purpose of this research project was to explore the cultural constructs of masculinity and sexual health among emerging adult men (ages 18-29) in the cities of Uzhhorod, L’viv, and Ternopil, Ukraine and to assess male involvement in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) initiatives in western Ukraine. A set of key informant interviews with gender resource staff, health service providers, and international agency and NGO staff working in the area of gender studies and health promotion, supplemented in-depth interviews and group interviews conducted with young men and women in each city in an effort to understand how beliefs and attitudes about masculinity influence the sexual behavior and the sexual and reproductive health of emerging adults in Ukraine.
