My project is designed to understand better how the politics of language intersect with policy appropriation. More specifically, I examine the contrasting and sometimes contradictory understandings of regional-language policy that have frustrated the implementation of school-based, regional-language preservation programs through a case study of the Võro-language revitalization policies in southeastern Estonian schools.
