[4]The Azerbaijan Media Defense and Public Information Program ensures that journalists and media outlets subject to harassment by the Azerbaijani government and other political forces are represented in court by qualified and professional legal counsel; Azerbaijani journalists and media outlet managers receive training in the legal aspects of their profession; and radio programs on court cases are heard across Azerbaijan.
This program is funded by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State.

• Provide information to Azerbaijanis on the country’s operating environment for its independent media
Legal counsel: The program provides legal counsel and advice to Azerbaijani journalists in approximately 30 active cases.
