Scott's bio
Scott’s responsibilities are in the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of field operations. Under Scott’s leadership numerous field operational, HR, and financial procedures have been developed, standardized, or strengthened, allowing for better operational management.
Scott has over 16 years experience in the management, operations, and financial administration of development programs. His expertise includes field operations, project start-up/close-out, NGO strengthening and grants management, and contract/grant compliance. Scott has worked extensively in international field offices training staff in financial and administrative systems, and grants management.
Scott joined IREX in July 2005. He was previously with the Academy for Educational Development for 11 years, where he was the Sr. Field Operations Support Officer with the Center for Civil Society and Governance. In 1989 Scott earned a BA in Russian with a minor in Music Theatre from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He also took courses in the Russian Area Studies Program at Georgetown University, in Washington, DC.
While anyone who has seen Scott’s office knows he is a diehard Buffalo Bills and Washington Capitals fan, he is also an avid genealogist who has documented some lines of his ancestry back 18 generations. Scott’s first maternal ancestor arrived at Jamestown in the ‘new world’ in 1610. Scott is also a member of the National Society of Mayflower Descendants.
