Savina Sirik works as Team Leader at the Documentation Center of Cambodia [7], where she focuses on encouraging women’s participation both within the Khmer Rouge tribunal process and in the broader political system.
During her fellowship in the U.S., Savina worked with the League of Women Voters of California [8] on a variety of voter education projects, using online platforms to provide nonpartisan and comprehensive information elections.
After returning to Cambodia, Savina implemented her follow-on project which focused on engaging women villagers in the Khmer Rouge tribunal process. Savina recruited and selected three women villagers to attend and observe the trial proceedings who then shared this information with community members. Savina also conducted in-depth interviews with these women, the results from which she later used to highlight their voice in the tribunal process and to encourage civil society organizations to engage women in the proceedings.
