Matthew Vanderwerff's Bio
Matt Vanderwerff is a Program Officer at IREX where he currently works on IREX’s technology for development programming, providing direct program management and technical assistance in Washington, DC.
Matt supports the Beyond Access [7] program, an initiative advocating to make libraries universally recognized as community development hubs along with several other technology for development programs in Central Asia. Matt previously supported the Global Libraries [8] programs in Romania and Ukraine.
Prior to joining IREX, Matt worked as Research Assistant for USAID’s Bureau for Europe and Eurasia where he authored a report titled “New Media and International Media Development: A Resource Guide for Europe and Eurasia. [9]” Matt holds an MA in Russia and East European Studies from the University of Michigan, where he was a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellow from 2006-2008.
When not working, Matt spends his free time tinkering with house projects and spends every summer trying to grow the perfect tomato in his backyard.
